Describing it as a light yet poignant film, She Came to Me, directed by Rebecca Miller, features a compelling tugboat captain played by Marisa Tomei, whose weathered yet endearing persona is sure to tug at heartstrings. With a romantic desire verging on the sociopathic, Tomei’s character is a fantastic heroine of the rom-com, although the film itself cannot be limited to the genre.
Meanwhile, Peter Dinklage, portraying a creatively blocked composer targeted by Katrina’s passion, serves as the ideal counterbalance. The Berlin Film Festival artistic director Carlo Chatrian made a great choice by selecting She Came to Me as the perfect opening-night movie.
